Alex Bondy

ALEX BONDY joined Black Burke Mayor LLP as an associate lawyer after beginning their legal career in the legal department of a large national union.

Alex is committed to advocating for the rights of workers and unions. While working in-house, Alex gained practical experience working alongside union representatives and members. They conducted research and prepared legal opinions for lawyers in the department and local union representatives to use in arbitrations and in court.

Alex graduated with a JD from the University of Ottawa and holds an Honours Degree from Carleton University in Public Affairs and Policy Management. During law school, Alex volunteered with the Criminalization and Punishment Education Project (CPEP) as a Jail Accountability and Information Line worker, where they took calls from imprisoned people and their loved ones with the shared goal of organizing to reduce the harms of imprisonment at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre. They also contributed to the development of the “Habeas Corpus Guide”, a legal information resource available to all imprisoned people in Ontario provincial jails and federal penitentiaries.

In their free time, Alex enjoys foraging for wood and whittling spoons and other wooden objects.
